    Research Interests:

    - Nonhuman primate studies
My current focus is the provision of an optimal environment for Yerkes, Emory, and outside investigators to undertake nonhuman primate based biomedical and behavioral studies at Yerkes. I actively collaborate in experimental design and direct the animal based component of the studies. My specific research interests are intra- and inter-species disease transmission and control, both in the laboratory and in the field, with a focus on retroviruses and SIV pathogenesis in natural hosts.

    Clinical Focus:

As Associate Director for Animal Resources I am responsible for all animal care and use programs at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center Main Station and Field Station. This encompasses the provision of an appropriate environment for maintaining Yerkes 3300 nonhuman primates (NHP) and 10,000 rodents, and the provision of quality, well characterized animals and requisite support facilities and personnel in support of Yerkes/Emory clinical and biomedical research programs.
