    Pathology Faculty at Microscope

    Surgical Pathology Fellowship

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Emory University now offers two alternative training pathways leading to special competence in surgical pathology. Our highly regarded, ACGME-accredited Fellowship program offers one year of training and graduated clinical responsibilities in general surgical pathology, including frozen-section consultations, teaching of residents and medical students, and the planning and execution of a research project. For the qualified, highly motivated candidate, we offer a Clinical Instructorship position which entails a year of intensive, independent sign-out responsibility under the supervision of experienced faculty, providing an ideal preparation for academic or private clinical practice and a salary commensurate with these higher responsibilities. Either pathway can be tailored to the subspecialty interests and career goals of successful candidates, providing in-depth focus on specific subspecialties as well as broad general experience with the full range of case material available within the Emory Healthcare system. Our Department accessions more than 50,000 cases annually, which together span all of the subspecialty areas of surgical and medical pathology, including pulmonary, renal, soft tissue, ENT, urologic, gynecologic, transplant, breast, and gastrointestinal pathology, as well as special procedures such as immunohistochemistry, whole-slide imaging, and molecular pathology techniques. Resources for clinical and translational research are outstanding, including ready access to tissue microarrays, image analysis, flow cytometry, and proteomic and genomic technology. Mentorship is outstanding, and we are proud of the pathologists we train. For additional information or applications for both these elite programs, please contact the Program Director, Dr. Adeboye Osunkoya, via Lynn Hansen, 404-712-1990 or
